What is Glaucoma?

What is Glaucoma? Causes, How Can It Be Prevented?

1- Glaucoma is a vision problem that is caused by damage to the optic nerves, which signals from the eye to the brain. The biggest risk factor is high in the IOP or intraocular pressure. This is a plain, 12-21. However, in people with glaucoma, the cause of the limit, and the pressure on the optic nerve, damage to the nerves. Water-water is the fluid that keeps the pressure constant in the healthy eye. It is mostly in the anterior chamber of the eye, the anterior chamber of the eye, and the flip angle of the eye. When the system fails, the aqueous fluid cannot flow properly, and it builds up and increases pressure inside the eye. In doing so, it destroys the optic nerve. Early treatment may lead to permanent loss of vision in a short period of time.
2- Glaucoma is an eye disease caused by damage to the optic nerve. It doesn't have any major features, at the very beginning. Little by little, the vision has been stolen, and without warning. A lot of people who are suffering from glaucoma, not realizing that they have the disease. Glaucoma can cause blindness if left undiagnosed and healing. WHO estimates that there are approximately 60 million glaucoma patients worldwide. After cataracts, glaucoma is the leading cause of vision loss. Approximately 12 million people in India suffer from glaucoma. However, more than half of them do not know.

There are several types of glaucoma:

1. Open angle:

OPEN ANGLE GLUCOMA SYMPTOMS:

1. Open-angle glaucoma have no early symptoms at all. visual field loss occurs when the optic nerve is damaged. In the first instance to affect to the side to watch. Therefore, the patient does not experience visual disturbances. However, as the disease progresses, the field of vision is narrow, and it will be visible in the tunnel. - Hot ?????????? a vision for the future. By this time, your vision will start to blur.

2. Angle closure:

 3-- Normal-tension glaucoma
In glaucoma, the normal stress on the optic nerve is damaged even though the pressure is within the normal range. No one knows the exact reason for this. You may have a sensitive, nervous, or you may have less blood flow to the optic nerve. This reduces the flow of blood, can be caused by atherosclerosis — a build-up of fatty deposits (plaque) in the arteries, or of any other circumstances that might prevent the blood circulation.

 4- Glaucoma in children
Babies and children can have glaucoma. It can be present at birth or develop within the first few years of life. Injury to the nerves can be caused by a clogged drain, or any additional conditions.

 5-Dyed glaucoma
In a pigmented, glaucoma, dark granules from the iris, build up in the drains, slowed down, or blocking the exit of fluid from the eye. Exercise, such as running, sometimes it will tickle the dark beads, depositing them in the trabecular meshwork, and the cause of the periodic pressure on the rise.

ANGLE CLOSURE SYMPTOMS:

2. Glaucoma is a Sudden pain in the eyes, blurred vision and a slight halo around the light source. The Extreme levels of dehydration (> 30 mm hg) may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The vision may be completely lost if it is left untreated it immediately.

What Are The Causes Of Glaucoma?

The back of the eye is constantly secretes a clear liquid called the aqueous fluid. When a liquid forms, it fills up the front of the eye. This is your very eyes, through the channels of the cornea and the iris of the eye. When these channels are blocked, either partially or completely blocked, it is, of course, is that the pressure in the eye, which is called the eye pressure (IOP), and can increase in size. When the PRESSURE rises, and your eye may be damaged. If the nerve damage progresses, you begin to lose your vision for the future.

What is the main cause of increased pressure in the eye is not known. However, doctors believe that one or more of these factors may play a role:

  • the cause of the eye
  • to block or restrict the drainage in your eyes
  •  medications, such as corticosteroids
  •  poor blood flow to the optic nerve
  •   high or low blood pressure

Everyone is at risk of developing glaucoma. However, some groups are at a higher risk than others.

People with a higher risk of developing glaucoma, it should immediately consult a doctor for a complete eye exam, including an eye-movement. Your doctor will tell you how much you will need in order to continue the test, based on the results of this in the eyes of the population.

Listed below are the classes with a high risk of developing glaucoma.

 1-African Americans
After cataracts, glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness among African-Americans and people of African descent. Glaucoma may occur in the first six to eight times more common in African Americans than in Whites.

2-People Over The Age Of 60
Glaucoma was significantly more common in the elderly. You are six times more likely to develop glaucoma if you are over 60 years of age.

 3-Family members with glaucoma
The most common form of glaucoma, primary open-angle glaucoma, is hereditary. If your family members are suffering from glaucoma, and they were significantly higher risk than the general population.

In the family increases the risk of development of glaucoma four to nine times.

4-The Hispanics in older age groups
Recent studies show that the risk is higher for the Spanish people for the people, mostly of European origin, and that the risk increase among Latinos in the age range of 60 years old.

 5-Asian
People of Asian descent appear to be at increased risk of developing angle-closure glaucoma. Glaucoma is less than 10% of the diagnosis in suspected cases. People of Japanese descent are at increased risk for the development of normal-tension glaucoma.

 6-Steroid Users
Some evidence is to the left of steroids in order to glaucoma. In 1997, a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, it is shown that an increase of 40% in the incidence of ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma in adults who require around 14 to 35 and smoke, a steroid inhaler to control asthma. This is a very high dose, you should only be in cases of severe bronchial asthma.

 7-Injury to the eye
Eye injury can be the cause of secondary open-angle glaucoma. This type of glaucoma can occur immediately after an injury, or a year later.

8-Blunt injury, which is a "loss" of the eye (called blunt trauma), or any damages that enters the eye, they can cause damage to the eyes of the drainage system, which can lead to traumatic glaucoma.

The most common cause of a sports-related injury, such as baseball and boxing.

A thorough examination by an ophthalmologist, it is a good way to make the diagnosis of glaucoma. A comprehensive eye exam can be the measurement of intra-ocular pressure, glaucoma, and for the assessment of optic nerve function. In addition, in the peripheral field of view can be calculated with the help of a visual field test. High blood pressure is the main symptom of glaucoma. Glaucoma is just like any other lifestyle disorders, it is a life-long condition. High blood pressure can be controlled with an effective drops. In some cases, laser treatment, and surgery may be helpful. Glaucoma is a disease that affects more and more people. However, with the right diagnosis and early detection of the disease can be prevented with the right treatment. In this way, we can prevent the loss of our vision for the future. Therefore, it is important that the patient is regularly taking the medication and visit a specialist for advice.
